The songs on this album were written over a period of two or three years, and refined at Lark Cafe in Ditmas Park every Thursday, with the help of a loyal crowd of mums, nannies and dads. They were recorded in the final months of the Dad Beats, as Andrew prepared to move back to the UK, Charles headed to New Jersey, Dan's kids grew up and out of music for children and Yuri perfected the calm, inscrutable "demeanor of an undercover agent" at the Park Slope Food Coop. Mostly, this involved Andrew and Yuri writing, singing and working on arrangements together, and Yuri playing the instruments. Dan and Charles chipped in with instrumental parts. And then, for another year or more, Yuri beavered away at the Garageband files, adding and subtracting, mixing and matching, to produce the aural delights available to you here.

So it's a less polished record than Child Support. It wasn't recorded in a studio, and we didn't hire professional musicians this time to add little touches of magic. But we honestly think these are some of the best songs we've ever written, and hope you'll enjoy the home-made vibe as much as we do.

We've made the album available for free download, because we want people to hear it, but if you'd like to pay something for this music, in recognition of the hundreds of hours of work and love that went into it, feel free to throw us a few bucks. We promise to set it aside for our childrens’ university education spend it on beer. Alright!
